Gospel Singing w/ Jeff Stone & the Virginia Gospel Singers

The Band is based out of

Fredericksburg Va. The Virginia Gospel Singers through God’s wonderful grace has had

the opportunity of spreading the word of God throughout many states, including Virginia,

Pennsylvania, North and South Carolina, Maryland, and Delaware. Many people have

been drawn to the Lord or uplifted in spirit by the group’s approach to music as well as

by their personal testimonies. Throughout their years together, the Lord has blessed the

group by allowing them to play with such professional groups as the Lewis Family, the

Easter Bros., Larry Sparks, Paul Williams, and the Victory Trio and most recently the

past few years the group shared the stage with the Larry Stephenson Band and Nick

Chandler & Deliverance. The group members cannot say enough about how the Lord

has blessed their ministry. Each member has accepted Christ as His Savior and

continually prays for His guidance for their personal life as well as for continued

guidance for the group.

The original group consisted of Bob Stone on Mandolin/Dobro and Tenor vocals, Jeff

Stone Electric Bass, (Lead Vocals) Clarence (Pete) Crisp Lead Guitar and Lead vocals

and Bud Griffis on Fiddle.

Throughout the years band members have come and gone and God has always provided

someone to fill the void. Around 1988 Pete had to leave due to health reasons and Jeff

moved up to Guitar and Lead Vocals and remains to this day.

Bob, Jeff’s dad served God with his musical ministry for over 60 years, it was with

deep sadness that on March 5, 2016, Bob suffered a massive stroke, which left him

unable to speak or eat. But through God’s great mercy he didn’t linger or suffer long,

God called his child home July 7, 2016. Now he walks those streets of Gold and when

this life is over, we will see him again. Pete was called home in the fall of 2016 now they

are singing again in Glory.

The current lineup of Jeff Stone & the Virginia Gospel Singers consists of:

Jeff Stone/ Rhythm Guitar & Lead Vocals:

Jeff has been playing Gospel music for over 40yrs. It was what he was raised around.

Jeff began his ministry working with his dad and uncle’s band the last 2 years before they

disbanded. Then he worked with a few local Gospel groups until the Lord, but this group

together. And has been playing the Gospel ever since. Jeff is married and has two

daughters and an 18-year-old grandson. Jeff lives in Stafford County Va. Jeff attends

Gordon Road Church of God when not singing for the Lord. Jeff is employed with

VDOT and has been there over 39yrs.

Mac Dempsey/ Five String Banjo:

Next to Jeff, Mac has been the longest band member. Mac joined the group June 7,

1990, and is a blessing to everyone he meets. A fine Christian man Mac loves people and

helping all he can. He has been a true asset to the group. Mac is a retired finish carpenter

he is also a widower, he has one daughter, a granddaughter and 2 great granddaughters

who he is proud as can be of. Mac attends Massaponax Baptist Church has been a

Deacon and usually can be found on Sunday morning passing out bulletins’ and greeting

all who enter. Mac lives In Spotsylvania County Va.

Donald Rose Jr. /Upright Bass/Guitar, Harmony & Lead Vocals:

Jr. has been with the group since the Fall of 2016 and as most of everyone knows him

is a fine Christian man with an incredible testimony of how he tried to run from God and

through the love of Christ and all around him, he came back, and God welcomed him

with open arms. Jr. has been a real blessing to the group. Jr. has a fine harmony as well as

a lead vocal and is talented on the guitar. He has two children Donald Rose III (Trae) and

Broke Michele. Jr lives in Middletown, Va. near Winchester. When not singing Jr. has

been attending First Choice Baptist Church Baptist Church in Middletown Va.

Trae Rose / Mandolin/Guitar, Tenor & Lead Vocals:

Trae joined our group around February 2020. Trae has a fine Tenor vocal, and he

does some wonderful lead work, he is a very talented musician and a fine mandolin

player and a very good guitar player and it’s our honor to have him as a member of the

group. He is a fine Christian young man and attends First Choice Baptist Church with his

dad when not singing for the Lord. Trae also lives in Middletown, Va.
